Abstract
This technical paper examines the transition from polyethylene-based agricultural films to biodegradable PLA (Polylactic Acid) spunbond non-wovens. We analyze the breakdown rates in various soil conditions and the resultant impact on crop yield for fruit-bearing trees.
Material Composition
Our proprietary bio-spunbond filament is extruded from starch-derived polymers, reinforced with UV-stabilizers to ensure a controlled degradation cycle of 6-12 months, matching most seasonal crop cycles.
Case Study: Banana Bunch Protection
Field trials in South India demonstrated that biodegradable non-woven covers provided 12% better moisture regulation than standard plastic bags, while eliminating the labor costs associated with bag removal and disposal.
